Why low ABV matters
All Birretta beers are under 3.5% ABV. That's roughly half the strength of a standard beer. You can enjoy two Birrettas for the same alcohol intake as one standard pint. The flavour doesn't suffer β only the consequences do.
Low ABV beer has a long, proud history in Britain and Europe. It was the everyday drink of workers, monks and households for centuries β chosen for its refreshment and moderate strength. We're bringing that tradition back for a new generation.
Drinking Responsibly
Even low ABV beer contains alcohol. Never drink and drive. If in doubt, don't. Birretta's low strength makes it easier to stay within safe limits, but alcohol still accumulates.
There is no known safe level of alcohol during pregnancy. We strongly advise that pregnant women avoid alcohol entirely, including low ABV products.
Alcohol can interact with many medications. If you are taking any medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist before drinking, even low ABV beer.
Birretta is strictly for adults of legal drinking age. In most European countries that is 18. We do not sell to minors and take this responsibility seriously.
Units and Guidelines
In the UK, the NHS recommends drinking no more than 14 units of alcohol per week, spread across three or more days. A can of Birretta IPA (330ml at 2.8%) contains approximately 0.9 units.
In Italy, the Istituto Superiore di SanitΓ advises a maximum of 2 units per day for men and 1 unit per day for women, with alcohol-free days each week.
Guidelines vary by country β please refer to your national health authority for local recommendations.
